Airysa's 1st Birthday Party

I am not a creative person. I can’t draw and I can’t make beautiful art crafts. What I can do is spend too much time browsing online. I saw tons of beautiful birthday parties photo and read about how Moms prepared for the party. Naturally, I wanted one of my own so when Airysa turned 1, I decided to throw a small birthday party.

 Location

I decided to hold the party at home because it’s the most comfortable and familiar place for Airysa.

Party Theme

Since Airysa is only 1 and has no favorite character yet, I decided to go with her current fave, balloons. Also, since her Chinese horoscope is a cow, I decided to use a cute girly cow character.

Play Area

I’ve attended too many at home parties where the children basically have nothing much to do but play with limited toys while the parents chat and gossip so I decided to rent some toys and create a play area for the kid guests. I wanted it to be a kid focus party and not parents focus. I didn't create any activities or games area for them yet as the guests are pretty young (1-3 years old), but I definitely look forward to throwing a party for older kids in the future. There would be more activities available to do.

Dessert Table

Considering that I don’t have too many guests (only 8 children and 20 adults), I decided to just use my coffee table as the dessert/cake table. Following the examples of many beautiful dessert tables I saw online, I designed a simple dessert table with whatever plates, cups, and glasses that I already had at home. Souvenirs

I wanted a souvenir that is both fun and educating. After a long search, I found a couple of doll-books that are adorable and gives the children an opportunity to read. They are small enough to be taken everywhere.

Vendors for Party

Here are the vendors that made Airysa's 1st Birthday Party possible.

Kinderplays Party Hopper
Junita's blogspot is a must see for party ideas. She throws such a creative and fun party. She is also very nice and helpful. Although I didn't employ her services in this party, she is not stingy in sharing ideas and renting me toys and equipment for the party.

Sewa Mainan Jakarta
They have lots of toys available for rent at reasonable price.

Parish Cakes
Parish Cakes provides very interesting concept of allowing us to decorate our own cakes. They also have photo cake, which allows us to print edible photo of basically any type of picture we want. I could even request special banana cupcakes, which is not one of their available cupcake, for my party. One of the owner, Ms. Ditta Wahab, is a very health conscious mother who also understands the importance of healthy food for kids. No preservatives, made from real fruits, and less sugar.

Ezelcreative
For affordable and fabulous documentation of the party, definitely contact Jo. He was quite flexible regarding the party hour and made Airysa looked even cuter.

Dessert Table

I am a chocoholic so naturally, there are lots of chocolate in the dessert table. However, I also wanted desserts that are healthy for the kids.

Diablo Chocolate Square with edible photo theme from Parish Cakes.

Healthy carrot cake for the kids also from Parish Cakes.

Lollipops are the kids' favorite. Smaller and older kids all can't resist to grab one. In case if you don't know where to find lollipops (I didn't), they are available at Fantasy Lollies.

Cupcake and some traditional desserts with custom made topper. I discovered that you can actually find a lot of cute and colorful cakes/desserts in the traditional market.

It's probably a well-known tips already, but the cupcake topper was simply printed on sticker paper and then stuck it to "tusuk sate". I got the happy birthday flag from Paperglitter, which has a lot of free printables.

An easier option to make the circle tag would be to use a circle punch. It's not easy finding them in Indonesia, but they are available at Smartyhands.

The cupcake tier was bought at Titan Baking for only IDR 55,000.

M&Ms are delicious and colorful. While waiting, parents and children can snag some to eat.
